We understand that the impacts of flooding can be overwhelming and create significant uncertainty for business owners, employees, and families. Please know that the Town of Lincoln is actively working to understand the full extent of the impacts across our community and advocate for the supports, resources, and recovery assistance our businesses need. As businesses begin the recovery process, we want to hear not only about physical damage, but also the challenges you are experiencing and the supports that would help your business recover. Whether you are dealing with business interruption, lost revenue, employee impacts, inventory loss, insurance concerns, cleanup costs, or other operational challenges, your feedback will help inform our response and advocacy efforts. Every report helps the Town document the full economic impact of this event, advocate for provincial and federal recovery programs, identify common business needs, and prioritize local recovery efforts. Even if your damage is minor, your information strengthens our ability to advocate on behalf of Lincoln businesses.

We are working with provincial and federal partners, along with industry and community organizations, to communicate the impacts of the flooding on Lincoln businesses and identify available recovery programs, funding opportunities, and support services.

If your business has experienced flood-related damage, contact your insurance provider as soon as possible to begin the claims process and understand what coverage may be available under your policy.
Business owners are encouraged to:
- Report damage to their insurance company immediately
- Take photographs and videos of all affected areas, equipment, inventory, and property before cleanup, if safe to do so
- Keep records of cleanup costs, repairs, and any business interruption expenses
- Retain receipts and documentation related to recovery efforts
- Follow guidance from your insurer before disposing of damaged items whenever possible
The Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) has provided guidance to Niagara residents and businesses affected by flooding, including information on insurance claims, coverage, and next steps following a flood event.

Agricultural producers experiencing crop losses, orchard damage, or other impacts resulting from the recent flooding and excessive rainfall are encouraged to contact Agricorp as soon as possible.
Production Insurance provides coverage for production losses and yield reductions caused by insured perils, including excessive rainfall. Early reporting allows an Agricorp adjuster to assess crop conditions and discuss available options with producers when opening a claim.
Growers are encouraged to submit a claim even if they believe the damage may not be significant enough to trigger a claim. In some cases, the full impacts of excessive rainfall may not be immediately visible. For example, fruit trees and other perennial crops may experience delayed effects from prolonged flooding, saturated soils, root stress, or ground heaving that may not become apparent until later in the season or even next spring.
The Town of Lincoln has requested that the Province consider activating the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians (DRAO) program and continues to advocate for provincial assistance for affected residents and businesses.
Small businesses may be eligible for assistance through the DRAO Program, including businesses with fewer than 20 employees and annual revenues between $10,000 and $2 million.
Some assistance may also be available to farms, subject to specific eligibility requirements. At this time, we understand that farming must be the primary source of income, and coverage generally applies to harvested and stored inventory rather than crops planted in the field.
Additional program details are still being finalized. We are awaiting further information from the province and will share updates as they become available.
