Road Rehabilitation and Resurfacing Program

2026 Road Rehabilitation and Resurfacing Program

The 2026 Road Rehabilitation and Resurfacing Program focuses on addressing roads in poor condition as well as keeping good roads good by actively maintaining the pavement. This balanced approach works to repair deteriorated roads while preventing the deterioration of good roads in the future – keeping the good roads good while also addressing roads in worse condition.

The rehabilitation of roads includes milling, road base strengthening, roadside ditching, and cross culvert replacements to improve drainage. The program uses single surface treatment ‘tar and chip’ and bonded wearing course that provides the road with a waterproof barrier to protect the existing road base. This balanced approach positions our road network for long-term resilience, reducing future costs and extending pavement life.

A total of approximately 8 km of roads will be the focus of the 2026 program.

Road Rehabilitation and Resurfacing efforts may include:

  • Replacement of culverts that are currently failing, or have the potential to fail in the near future.
  • Primary focus on cross culverts under roadways.
  • Culvert replacements will take place prior to road rehabilitation.
  • Rehabilitation of rural roads may include asphalt "padding" at certain areas of the road before applying surface treatment (tar and chip).

What to Expect

Access for local traffic, garbage collection, and emergency services will be maintained.  A notification will be sent to all residents that live on any of the proposed roads closer to the start date of construction.

Construction of Blezard Drive Cul-De-Sac

The work involves constructing a new turnaround on the east limit of Blezard Drive to ensure safe and efficient turning for emergency service vehicles and general motorists.

Detailed design plans are complete and construction to take place in 2026.
