Legislation allows the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) to assess a property for the current year and up to two previous years, retroactive to the occupancy date.
The Tax Department encourages you to save approximately 1% of the price of your home for your annual property taxes. Please note, this is an estimated figure, and the Tax Department cannot provide your tax levy, as your property assessment has not been received from MPAC.
Once your property has been assessed, you will receive your property assessment notice in the mail from MPAC.
Once the Tax Department receives your property assessment value (from MPAC), a supplementary tax bill will be generated (effective from the date of occupancy).
