What is the voters' list?

Elections Ontario maintains the Permanent Register of Electors for Ontario, also known as the “voters' list” or “register”. 

The voter’s list contains information for individuals eligible to vote in: 

  • Provincial elections
  • Local municipal elections in Ontario 

What you can do online

Using the Election Ontario's Register to Vote page, you can: 

  • Register to vote
  • Register absentee or non‑resident voters
  • Register future voters
  • Confirm, update, or add your name and home address
  • Search, add, or remove a property other than your home address
  • Remove yourself from the register
  • Remove a deceased person from the register
  • Check the status of a submitted request

Voting in more than one municipality

If you or your spouse own or rent property other than your home address in Ontario, you may be eligible to vote in more than one municipal election.
 

Student voters

For local municipal elections, students are entitled to vote in multiple municipalities if their permanent home, and temporary student residence are in different municipalities or territory without municipal organization areas.

Students can:

  • list their permanent family home as their home address, and
  • add their temporary student residence as an additional property they, or their spouse, own or rent

School support designation

As of January 1, 2024, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (“MPAC”) no longer collects voter information for local elections. However, MPAC is still legislatively responsible for collecting school support designations.

How to search for your address:

  1. Select "Find an Address" located at the top centre of the map
  2. Select your Street Name and Street Address from the drop-down menu
