Lincoln Businesses to Benefit from First Year of Niagara Benchlands Destination Development Fund

Lincoln, ON – (September 27, 2022) – The Town of Lincoln is pleased to announce the 2022 recipients of the Niagara Benchlands Destination Development Grant, approved by Council on September 19, 2022.

The Niagara Benchlands Destination Development Fund was developed to support Lincoln’s tourism-based businesses and organizations in fostering the growth and economic prosperity for all of Lincoln.

In 2021, Council approved report AD-27-21, which created a grant fund allocation of $25,000 from the Economic Development/Tourism operating budget to be disbursed to Lincoln’s tourism-based businesses through a fair and equitable grant application process.

The Niagara Benchlands Destination Development Grant aims to assist tourism businesses in the Town of Lincoln grow awareness of the Niagara Benchlands tourism destination while increasing opportunities for sustainable economic growth, job creation, and continued economic prosperity in Lincoln’s tourism sector.

“The Niagara Benchlands Destination Development Fund will further support an already thriving tourism destination,” said Town of Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton.  “As we continue on our road to recovery, the additional support to increase awareness and create opportunities to gather and support local is essential.”

“Lincoln is a world-class tourism destination,” said Councillor Tony Brunet, Chair of the Planning and Economic Development Committee.  “This is a phenomenal opportunity to collaborate and demonstrate our commitment to helping our local businesses create a sustainable and flourishing economy.”

“The applications we received were creative, inspiring, and what I know to be true about the Niagara Benchlands as a tourism destination,” said Britnie Bazylewski, Tourism Coordinator for the Town of Lincoln.  “The funded projects will help grow our expanding tourism industry which is paramount to Lincoln’s plan for economic growth.”

By supporting Lincoln’s tourism-based businesses and organizations with financial aid, encouraging greater collaboration amongst private-sector companies, and utilizing Town-owned marketing and promotional channels, the policy ensures that municipal funds are disbursed in meaningful, equitable, and measurable ways.
