Assigning a Voting Proxy

  • A voting proxy is someone who will cast a ballot on another’s behalf in their absence.
  • The person acting as a proxy must also be an eligible elector.
  • If an individual wants to appoint a voting proxy, forms can be picked up at the Clerk's office on Voting Day (October 24, 2022), or the form can be found online here: Appointment for Voting Proxy – Form 3.
  • Proxy forms will be certified on Voting Day between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm at Town Hall, Office of the Town Clerk only.
  • The completed form must have original signatures from both parties. You will both need to present valid identification when applying. Staff will review the application form and give your proxy a voting proxy certificate.
  • When your proxy goes to a voting location to vote, they must bring their voting proxy certificate, or they will not be able to vote in your place. After staff at the voting location verify the certificate, your proxy will be able to vote on your behalf.

Please note that Election Officials at any voting station will not accept uncertified, faxed or photocopied proxy certificates at the voting place.
