Lincoln and Grimsby join efforts for continued service delivery efficiencies
Lincoln, ON – (March 9, 2020) – Last week Lincoln and Grimsby Councils approved new legal service contracts. The two municipalities joined forces to solicit & review proposals collectively for consolidated legal services.
“Our Council is committed to transforming and modernizing our municipal services to identify cost savings while balancing the need to secure expert services,” said Mayor Sandra Easton. “Councils have a responsibility to drive change, where possible, at a local level."
“Municipalities are facing increased resource pressures,” said Mayor Jeff Jordan. “We must lead by example and continue to find ways to collaborate.”
“Executing the delivery of effective and efficient services is core to Lincoln,” said Michael Kirkopolous, CAO, Town of Lincoln. “The joint procurement process is just one example of a shared services type relationship that enabled us to secure better pricing and allow further savings.”
“Ideally, anytime staff identify opportunities for collaboration we seek to find service delivery improvements and potential cost savings,” said Harry Schlange, CAO, Town of Grimsby. “This was a great example of achieving more value by partnering with the Town of Lincoln and our municipalities will continue to work together to explore other opportunities.”
The joint proposal was issued in November 2019 and closed in December 2019. Seventeen proposals were received and five were short listed. Early in 2020, the evaluations and interviews were conducted leading to a recommendation and approval by respective Councils.
