Lincoln, ON – (July 12, 2022) – The Town of Lincoln is pleased to announce the new Niagara Benchlands Destination Development Fund, which has been developed to provide support to Lincoln’s tourism-based businesses and organizations to foster the growth and economic prosperity of Lincoln’s tourism sector.
Tourism-based businesses and organizations located within the municipal boundaries of the Town of Lincoln are eligible for funding. These include for-profit businesses, not-for-profit businesses, public sector agencies, and private sector agencies whose business operations support Lincoln’s diverse tourism economic value chain. Types of eligible businesses can include: Accommodations; Culinary; Farms and Farm Markets; Outdoor Adventure/Eco-Tourism; Retail; Tours and Attractions Arts, Culture, and Heritage; Wine, Beer and Spirits.
“Lincoln’s tourism industry is the pulse of our community and a key driver of our local economy,” said Town of Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton. “While the industry is already thriving, there is much potential for growth and increased destination awareness not only regionally but also nationally and internationally.”
“The Town of Lincoln continues to be a leader in Niagara, boasting with one of the most diversified economies in the Region,” said Ward 2 Councillor and Chair of Planning and Development Committee Tony Brunet. “Through the recently adopted Niagara Benchlands brand, we are promoting Lincoln as a premier tourist destination with a unique character in a breathtaking natural setting.”
“One of the key priorities noted in the Tourism Strategy is to encourage and nurture additional private sector investment in the areas of festivals/events and tourism activations that increase destination awareness and provide opportunity for increased visitation and visitor spending,” said the Town’s Tourism Coordinator, Britnie Bazylewski. “This funding will not only support local businesses who have witnessed challenges through the COVID-19 pandemic but will also help grow our expanding tourism industry which is paramount to Lincoln’s plan for economic growth.”
Applications for the 2022 Niagara Benchlands Destination Development Fund are open as of Monday, July 11 and close Friday, August 12, 2022. Visit Lincoln.ca for the application form and guidelines.
