2. Automatic summer savings for wastewater
Good news! Every year from June 1 to August 31, the Town of Lincoln automatically reduces the wastewater surcharge. This helps keep rates affordable during the high season — think lawn care, gardens, pools, and car washes. It’s a seasonal break designed with residents in mind.
3. Smart irrigation tip
Timing is important. Water your lawn or garden in the evening to get the most out of every drop. Less evaporation = more absorption = better results!
Here’s a quick guide to help:
- Water desired sections for about 10–15 minutes.
- Avoid morning watering, as more water is lost to evaporation which costs you more in the long run.
4. Plant a Rain Garden
Rain gardens look like typical gardens, however they are designed to capture stormwater runoff, increase absorption with improved soil and suitable plants, and filter out pollutants. This process improves water quality and limits the amount of water that enters our storm system, and ultimately our waterways.
Rain gardens require minimal watering compared to traditional lawns because native plants retain moisture more effectively, helping lower water use and maintenance costs!
