Lincoln, ON – (April 10, 2024) – Despite the cloudy weather, many residents across Lincoln and the Niagara Region were able to witness the rare celestial event that graced our skies on April 8, 2024. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined in to experience this awe-inspiring moment.

Prior to the event, the Town of Lincoln took proactive steps by distributing a limited supply of solar eclipse glasses to the public. We would like to extend a special recognition and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Wylie Tan’s Optometrist Office for their generous donation towards the purchase of these glasses. Your support ensured that our community could safely observe this remarkable event.

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that through the generosity of our community, donations totaling $758.95 were collected for Gillian’s Place. We extend our sincerest thanks to everyone who contributed to this meaningful cause.

The Town of Lincoln is now accepting donations of used eclipse glasses at various Town facilities. Glasses in good condition will be donated to Astronomers Without Borders, a noble initiative aimed at providing safe viewing experiences for future celestial events to individuals in regions such as Africa, Asia, and South America. Damaged glasses will be properly disposed of, ensuring environmental responsibility. Glasses can be donated at the following locations:

  • Town Hall
  • Fleming Centre
  • Lincoln Community Centre
  • Jordan Arena
  • Lincoln Museum & Cultural Centre
  • Library Branches

Lastly, we want to express our gratitude to the entire community for taking appropriate measures to prepare for this event. Your enthusiasm, cooperation, and community spirit made this experience truly unforgettable.
