Lincoln, ON (December 22, 2022) - The transformative Jordan Village Improvement Project is wrapping up the first year of construction improvements since the groundbreaking took place in March of this year.  The Jordan Village Improvement Project will create an anchor destination for residents, businesses, and tourists by building a connected and beautified neighbourhood that focuses on safety, complete streets, landscape appeal, and local heritage.

Work completed this year includes the reconstruction of the road, watermain, and sewers on Wismer Street, Nineteenth Street between Fourth Avenue and the new Snure Lane, and Twenty-first Street, including the following features

  • Urbanization of Nineteenth Street, including new curbs, sidewalks, and cycle tracks
  • New south sidewalk on Wismer Street
  • Construction of a new road, Snure Lane
  • Improved streetscaping and tree planting
  • Retaining wall replacement at Twenty-First Street
  • New storm sewer on Nineteenth Street
  • Installation of two new Oil-Grit Separator Stormwater Treatment Systems

As construction activities are wrapping up in Jordan Village this year, the construction contractor, Trenchline & Roads Inc., is preparing for winter shutdown. Nineteenth Street and the new Snure Lane will be opened to through traffic by the end of this week.

While most of the construction will be placed on hold this winter, weather permitting, some winter work will be planned in Jordan Village.  You may see construction crews working on the Nineteenth Street public parking lot and completing localized construction work.  Localized work includes installing foundations for wayfinding pillars, installing soil cells, and completing investigation work at critical locations.

Full reconstruction will commence again in March 2023, weather permitting, beginning at the north end of Main Street.  Any outstanding work on Nineteenth Street will also be completed at this time. Thank you again to local businesses, residents and visitors for your cooperation during construction. The improvements will make a lasting impact and enhance Jordan Village as a world-class destination.
