Public Service Announcement: Heat Warning Issued for Niagara Region beginning June 30

Lincoln, ON – (June 29, 2026) – Environment Canada has issued an Orange-Level Heat Warning for Niagara Region beginning Tuesday, June 30. Slightly cooler temperatures are expected by the end of the week or possibly into the weekend, bringing an end to this heat event. We can expect: 

• The hottest days are expected to be Wednesday and Thursday, with maximum temperatures of 34 to 37 degrees Celsius expected. Minimum temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees Celsius will provide little relief from the heat.
• Daytime high temperatures of 31 to 34 degrees Celsius, and potentially up to 37 degrees Celsius for some areas.
• Nighttime low temperatures of 21 to 25 degrees Celsius, providing little relief from the heat.

Please note:

• As of June 26, Charles Daley Park is noted as safe to swim according to Niagara Region's Beach Water Testing Results. Always check before entering the water.
• Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high-risk category. 
• The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
• Watch for the early signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and others. Signs may include: headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue. Stop your activity and drink water.
• Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
• Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.
• Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
• Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
