Lincoln, ON – (September 10, 2025) – Town of Lincoln Committee of the Whole has approved a $25,000 Physician Recruitment Incentive Agreement with Dr. Danielle Robinson, who will establish her first full-time practice in Niagara at the Lincoln Medical Clinic. The report is scheduled for Council ratification on September 22, 2025.

Dr. Robinson, specializing in Family Medicine, will begin serving patients on November 1, 2025, ensuring continuity of care for approximately 1,265 residents following the retirement of a longstanding local physician.

The incentive, modeled on best practices from across the province, requires a minimum five-year commitment and directly supports Council’s priority of building a complete, healthy, and vibrant community.

The Town’s Physician Recruitment Incentive Program was first introduced in 2025 and is guided by Council-approved policy to attract and retain family physicians. Lincoln, like many communities in Niagara and across Ontario, faces a shortage of primary care physicians. Residents are experiencing longer wait times, and many do not have access to a family doctor. According to recent numbers, Lincoln currently has 5,548 unattached individuals living in the community. This shortage poses challenges to community health and wellbeing outcomes, as well as broader workforce and economic development objectives.

Dr. Robinson completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Ottawa, attended medical school at Queen’s University, and specialized in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

Strengthening healthcare access through physician recruitment improves resident well-being, supports workforce attraction and retention, and bolsters Lincoln’s economic and social resilience.
