Lincoln, ON – (September 19, 2024) – The Town of Lincoln is pleased to announce that it has secured substantial funding of $13,640,895 from the Province of Ontario through the Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF) to support the advancement of the Prudhommes Watermain Upgrades Project. This project, which aligns with Lincoln’s strategic priorities for sustainable growth and infrastructure improvement, will play a key role in enhancing water services for the approved Prudhommes Secondary Plan.

The Prudhommes Watermain Upgrade, in conjunction with the Victoria Avenue Watermain Crossing Upgrade, encompasses the installation of approximately 6.5 km of new watermain infrastructure. The upgrades are designed to address both immediate and future water servicing needs, providing safe and reliable access to water for residents and businesses. Additionally, the Region of Niagara has received $8 million through HEWSF for regional infrastructure work, including a new pumping station that will further support water distribution at Prudhommes, ensuring that both regional and local water systems are equipped to meet future demands.

These upgrades will not only bolster water service reliability but also ensure the Town of Lincoln can meet its housing growth targets and foster an environment for new businesses to thrive. In total, this $22 million investment into local infrastructure represents a significant step toward building a stronger, more resilient community, positioning Lincoln for continued growth and success.

By investing in these upgrades, we are ensuring that Lincoln’s infrastructure keeps pace with our housing and development targets.”

“Our government is giving municipalities the tools they need to build more homes faster and tackle the affordability crisis that is pricing too many people, especially young families and newcomers, out of the dream of homeownership. In partnership with municipalities, Ontario will continue working hard to unlock housing opportunities and support growing communities, including well-planned projects like the Prudhommes Secondary Plan site in Vineland Station in the Town of Lincoln.”

~ Sam Oosterhoff, MPP for Niagara West
