Public Notice: Trail Restoration Update for the Twenty Valley Trail Project and Wagon Relocation

Type(s)
Public Notice

The Ontario Heritage Trust is excited to announce the start of construction for the Ellis southern trail, formerly known as the Twenty Valley Trail. This project will enhance trail connectivity between Ellis and the established network at Ball’s Falls, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable hiking experience for residents and visitors alike.

Project Details:

  • Start Date: November 18, 2024
  • Completion Date: April 1, 2025
  • Features: A limestone screening trail with a vegetated buttress and an armorstone wall to prevent erosion. Once stabilized, the area will be restored with native plantings to enrich the local ecosystem.

Park & Trail Access Information:

  • Pedestrian Access to Ellis: Unavailable during construction.
  • Sho'aríshon Park: Parking remains open; however, parking is reduced during this construction, and we thank residents and visitors for their patience.

Additionally, as part of the redevelopment of Sho’aríshon Park, the historical wagon that once resided there has been relocated. Thanks to the efforts of the Jordan Lions’ Club, the wagon has found a new home at Calamus Winery, where it will be restored and prominently displayed. The wagon’s move took place on November 15, 2024, and marks a step forward in the park's Indigenous cultural redesign plans. The existing shelter will also be removed in the coming weeks.

We extend our gratitude to the Jordan Lions’ Club and Calamus Winery for preserving this piece of local heritage.

We appreciate the community's patience and look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy the new trail in 2025.
