July 21, 2022 – (Lincoln, ON) – Environment Canada has issued a High Heat Alert for Niagara Region, with hot and humid conditions forecasted for Friday, July 22 through Saturday, July 23, 2022.

Daytime high temperatures reaching the low thirties with humidex values in the mid to upper thirties are expected into Saturday. There is a possibility that the heat event could stretch into Sunday, however cooler temperatures are expected at this stage.

Overnight low temperatures near 20 degrees Celsius will provide little relief from the heat.

Environment Canada issues heat alerts when:

  • The humidex is 40°C or higher for two consecutive days
  • Daily temperatures are expected to reach 31°C or higher and overnight temperatures are at least 20°C or higher, for two consecutive days

Public Health identifies those at risk and precautions to stay healthy during extreme heat.
