Lincoln, ON – (October 15, 2025) – The Town of Lincoln is proud to share that Mayor Sandra Easton has been named a recipient of the 2025 Indigenous Niagara Outstanding Achievement Awards (INOAA), recognized in the Two-Row Alliance category for her leadership and commitment to building strong, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities.

Now in its sixth year, the INOAA honours individuals who are shaping Indigenous cultural, educational, and civic life across Niagara.

The Two-Row Alliance Award highlights Mayor Easton’s steadfast support for Indigenous relations, including the creation of Sho’aríshon Neutral Nation Park and the integration of Indigenous history and public art throughout Lincoln, most recently in the town’s new museum.

“As a municipality, we have a responsibility to learn from the truths of our shared history, to foster trust, and to walk the path of reconciliation with our Indigenous partners,” said Mayor Easton. “This recognition is deeply humbling, and it reminds me of the work still ahead to strengthen these relationships for future generations.”

In keeping with the values of reconciliation, Mayor Easton announced that she has donated the monetary award she received to the Orange Shirt Society, in honour of residential school survivors, their families, and communities.

“I share this award with Members of Lincoln Council and Staff in recognition of past and present efforts, and see it as a call to action,” added Easton. “By supporting the Orange Shirt Society, we acknowledge the resilience of survivors and reaffirm our commitment to education, understanding, and healing.”

The 2025 Indigenous Niagara Outstanding Achievement Awards ceremony, held at Niagara College’s Yerich Auditorium, gathered artists, educators, and leaders from across the region. This year’s program placed a special emphasis on reconciliation, cultural integrity, and the voices of women shaping Indigenous and civic life.
