Lincoln, ON - (Aug. 20, 2021) – After delays due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, the Town of Lincoln is excited to safely welcome visitors back to West Niagara and offer them the opportunity to explore, experience, and earn their way through the Lincoln- like never before.
Running on weekends now, until Labour Day; the Town of Lincoln is showcasing free, and fun interactive virtual experiences at two of its most iconic tourist destinations, in Jordan Village and Ball’s Falls Conservation Area. Using an interactive projector and high-tech motion sensors; moving images transform these spaces into a life-sized arcade game and virtual waterfall trek. These Town-led signature experiences are only two of the exciting experiences waiting to be discovered through the Town’s WanderLost Scavenger Hunt on the Social Scavenger app.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity to get outside, explore our beautiful town, and experience innovative technology,” says Town of Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton. “The Town of Lincoln is a welcoming community and the WanderLost experience is designed not only for the Lincoln and Niagara community but also visitors to the area, making Lincoln a premier destination.”
Chief Administrative Officer Michael Kirkopoulos added that this is an example of the strengths of Lincoln’s diverse tourism sector and the opportunities to encourage people to visit our wide-open spaces. “It is vital to support our local business as we work towards economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. We are grateful for our partners both public, private, and not-for-profit sectors in the community to help us move forward this initiative and support our tourism sector and the entire local economy.”
“The importance of tourism and its impact on our local economy cannot be understated,” said the Town’s Tourism Coordinator Britnie Bazylewski. “The sector’s broad value chain fuels demand for investment attraction, enhanced community infrastructure, as well as workforce development and are key priorities in achieving the goals identified in Lincoln’s Tourism Strategy and Action Plan.”
The Town of Lincoln received $83,920 in early spring from the Government of Ontario, through the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism, and Culture Industries’ Reconnect Festival and Event Program, for its new WanderLost Lincoln event concept. The initiative is supported by the Town’s partners at the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario, and Twenty Valley Tourism Association.
