Statement from Mayor Sandra Easton and Chief Administrative Officer Michael Kirkopoulos on recent cases of COVID-19 in Lincoln

Lincoln, ON - (Nov. 10, 2020) –  Today, Niagara Region Public Health announced 63 new cases of COVID-19, and we have learned that 45 of these are related to a workplace outbreak on an agricultural operation in the Town of Lincoln.

The recent spike in cases in Lincoln is concerning.

As the pandemic forges on and numbers increase dramatically in both Ontario and in the Niagara Region, we must all continue to remain vigilant. This means coming together as a community and doing our part to follow the directives and guidelines set out by the Province and Niagara Region Public Health.

Throughout the pandemic, we have shared information about how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 - including maintaining physical distancing, wearing facial coverings where physical distancing is not possible, and washing hands frequently. Now more than ever, it’s crucial that everyone takes the necessary precautions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 – so that workplaces, schools and businesses can remain open.

As a community, we have been doing very well at keeping the case numbers low – and we encourage you to not to give up now. Certainly, none of us wants to see new restrictions imposed on the Region that will make life more difficult for residents and cause potential economic repercussions to our local businesses.

So today we are reminding you once again to keep up the good work and continue to keep yourselves, your families, and your community safe. We are truly in this together.
