Lincoln, ON – (July 11, 2025) – Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for Niagara Region. A prolonged period of hot and humid conditions will begin today, July 11 and is expected to continue through to Wednesday, July 16 evening. A shift in the weather pattern on Thursday, July 17 will likely end this multi-day heat and humidity event that evening.
- Daytime highs of 29 to 32 degrees Celsius.
- Humidex values of 35 to 40.
- Overnight lows of 19 to 23 degrees Celsius, providing little relief from the heat.
- Hottest day is expected to be Saturday, July 12.
Please note:
- Areas near the lakes could be slightly cooler than regions further inland. As of July 11, Charles Daley Park is noted as safe to swim according to Niagara Region's Beach Water Testing Results. Always check before entering the water.
- Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index approaching the high-risk category.
- The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
- Watch for the early signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and others. Signs may include: headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue. Stop your activity and drink water.
- Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
- Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.
- Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
- Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
