Emergency Preparedness: Be Ready for Anything
Lincoln, ON – (April 29, 2022) - Emergencies and disasters can happen anytime and anywhere, sometimes with minimal warning. Emergency Preparedness (EP Week) is a national awareness initiative that has taken place annually, during the first full week of May, since 1996. While being prepared for emergencies is essential year-round, EP Week is an opportunity to encourage Canadians to take some action so that they are better equipped to protect themselves and their families during emergencies.
“Emergency Preparedness Week has raised awareness across Canada for over 25 years to remind us of preparing for unexpected situations,” said Town of Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton. “The Town of Lincoln is committed to planning and preparing for all types of emergencies and collaborates with provincial, regional and local partners regularly to ensure an effective response. Being prepared enhances overall community resilience after a disaster occurs. Everyone is encouraged to do their part to be prepared too.”
In collaboration with key officials, agencies, and other stakeholders, the Town of Lincoln is prepared to respond to any situation quickly. Whether people cause an emergency, technology or nature, Lincoln, along with Grimsby, West Lincoln and Wainfleet, are guided in their municipal emergency response by the Niagara West Emergency Management Plan.
“As a municipal government, we are responsible for providing safe and exceptional emergency services through extensive emergency planning and preparedness,” said the Town’s Chief Administrative Officer, Michael Kirkopoulos. “Our staff are dedicated to providing the highest quality of protection, prevention, integrity and care through emergency services.”
