Lincoln, ON – (January 17, 2022) – The Town has declared a Significant Snow Event due to continued heavy snow and blizzard-like conditions. Residents are urged to stay home and avoid traveling as much as possible.

Environment Canada has issued a Blizzard Warning for northern Niagara Region which includes the Town of Lincoln. Roads are snow-covered, winds are significant and visibility is poor.

Town crews have been responding to the storm since 4 a.m. on January 17 and will focus on primary roads and sidewalks. Please be patient if crews do not reach your street or sidewalks until Tuesday, January 18 or Wednesday, January 19 – as the significant snowfall is making it difficult for Town crews to reach all streets and sidewalks for a first pass. A small crew will be responding overnight and full response will resume early the morning of Tuesday, January 18.

This is a significant snowfall and all areas in Niagara are responding to greater than normal accumulations, while the event is still ongoing. Once full response is completed, Town crews will begin clearing up snow in the downtown areas – likely later in the week.

A reminder that a Keep It Clear event is in effect as of Monday, January 17, 2022. A temporary on-street parking prohibition is in effect starting 12 a.m. on January 17. Local weather and road conditions will determine how long a Keep it Clear ban will be in effect, and we will inform community members when the ban is no longer in effect. However, residents should plan to park off-street for 72 hours.

Please do your part and help Town crews to do their work keeping our roads and community safe.
