Mayor and Council celebrate the completion of Lincoln’s newest neighbourhood park

Lincoln ON – (August 14, 2021) – On August 14, Mayor Easton and Members of Council happily cut the ribbon at Angelina Macri Prokich Park located in Beamsville.  This is the Town’s first developer-built neighbourhood park and was developed by Losani Homes as part of the larger Vista Ridge development.  Community consultation guided the site plan and park elements that were installed.

The Prokich family generously donated a portion of this parkland to the Town and the park is being dedicated in remembrance of Mrs. Prokich for her commitment to and love of Lincoln.

“On behalf of Council, I am thrilled to officially open Angelina Macri Prokich Park in honour of this important individual who was truly ahead of her time by bringing unique cultural experiences to youth in Lincoln and thus enriching fabric of the community,” said Town of Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton. “As a Council, we continue to look for opportunities to expand our parks system and enhance green spaces for people to enjoy the outdoors, especially as the pandemic has endured and access to these amenities is critical for mental and physical health and well-being.”

The new 8.95-acre park includes both active and passive park elements such as:

  • Spray pad
  • Two courts for tennis and pickleball and a separate multi-use court
  • Junior and senior play equipment
  • Pathways and a walking loop
  • Open lawn area for free play
  • Shaded rest areas, benches, installation of trees, plantings and park signage
  • Additional parking to support park use

“As our community grows and changes, and with new development, the Town continues to engage with residents about how to create meaningful public spaces, including parks, that provide a sense of community belonging and a positive space for recreation,” added Michael Kirkopoulos, the Town’s Chief Administrative Officer.

Angelina Macri Prokich immigrated to Canada in 1925.  After completing her education, she began a long and distinguished teaching career which included Beamsville District High School from 1948 until retirement.  A longtime member of St. Helen's Catholic Church, Angelina devoted herself to good works and charities, supported the education of children in Africa, South Asia and South America, and the education of clergy and teachers in several countries.

Angelina Macri Prokich Park is located at 5045 Connor Drive in Beamsville, bordering the new Vista Ridge development and St. Mark Catholic Elementary School.  To learn more about the location of all Lincoln’s parks please visit our website
