Lincoln, ON – (October 17, 2022) – The Town of Lincoln is pleased to commemorate Small Business Week by celebrating the small businesses in Lincoln who contribute to the economic and social well-being of the community.

Small Business Week is a national celebration of Canadian entrepreneurs and their contribution to Canada’s economy. The theme of Small Business Week this year is “Dare to do things differently: Power up your growth.”

“Economic recovery has brought new challenges for small business owners. High on the list is worker shortages, supply chain issues and inflation. Small business owners are finding ways to succeed and think outside the box facing these challenges,” said Paul Di Ianni, Director, Economic Development and Communications for the Town of Lincoln. “We are seeing small businesses becoming more inclusive, sustainable and digitally savvy as they adapt to a changing business landscape.”

In August of 2022 the Town of Lincoln secured a Digital Main Street (DMS) grant of $93,000 to deliver Digital Service Squad (DSS), a program that is instrumental in helping local businesses enhance their online capabilities.

“Since August, the Town of Lincoln’s Digital Service Squad has helped 19 Lincoln businesses receive the $2,500 DMS grant application, and 39 businesses have started the application process,” said Cameron Rotz, Economic Development Assistant at the Town of Lincoln. “We have streamlined the process this year and have made it quick and easy to get our businesses the support they need to take advantage of this opportunity.”

Digital Main Street’s Ontario Grants Program 4.0 was launched in July 2022. In October 2018, the Government of Ontario recognized the value of DMS in helping businesses digitally transform and provided funding for the DMS Ontario Grant Program.

“Partnering with the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) to administer the program has been of great benefit to BIAs across Ontario," said Stephanie Hicks Executive Director of Downtown Bench Beamsville BIA and Executive of the OBIAA Board. “Being a part of the process since 2018 and seeing 9,000 businesses receive grants so far and more than 24,000 businesses served by DSS since 2018 in Ontario has been incredible. Knowing that Town of Lincoln businesses are a part of those stats and assisting our small businesses in their digital transformations has been a huge success.”

The Digital Transformation Grant is available to eligible registered businesses of 50 employees or less with a brick-and-mortar location. The deadline to apply is October 31, 2022. To set up an appointment with the Town of Lincoln’s Digital Service Squad Member email Stephanie Zeleniak.
