Road Occupancy Permit Application

Before submitting an application, please read the following: 

• General Requirements

  • A Road Occupancy permit approved by the Town is valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
  • Issuance of permits after the 6 months may require resubmission.   
  • The applicant/owner shall maintain access to all public and private properties for the duration of the work.
  • Any alterations to this permit must be authorized by the Public Works Department prior to any changes being made.
  • Permits are only valid for the location, date and time specified, and may not be changed or altered unless approval is obtained from the Public Works Department.
  • The Town reserves the right to cancel permits wherever and whenever it is deemed necessary.
• Drawing Requirements

  The applicant/owner will need to supply a plan showing the details of the occupied area. The plan must legible and field verified. The following information shall be included:

  1. A key plan, showing the location of the site in relation to the nearest major intersection.
  2. A north arrow must be provided on the plan.
  3. A legend and all items clearly labelled.
  4. The municipal address of the property, including street name.
  5. The location of property lines to be noted.
  6. Drawing date.
  7. Any existing structures within the road allowance (i.e., streetlights, pedestals, trees, etc.).
  8. Sketch of proposed work.

  Failure to include basic information may result in the drawings being rejected or processing of the permit being delayed.

  If a Traffic Control Plan is required, please read the Conditions section of the permit application and apply all required information on the drawing.
