Warming Spaces/Extreme Cold

Staying Healthy and Safe During Extreme Cold

Environment Canada issues extreme cold warnings when:

  • The temperature is -15° C or colder, or a wind chill of -20°C or colder.
  • Weather conditions are severe enough to warrant alerting the community to the risks involved with prolonged exposure to the outdoors (blizzard, wind chill warning)

Public Health identifies those at risk and precautions to stay healthy during extreme cold.
