The Public Works Department is responsible for the repairs, maintenance and modifications of the municipality’s current fleet of equipment and vehicles that are utilized by all Town of Lincoln departments. The majority of the delivery service provided to Lincoln residents is mobile relying heavily on “wheels.” As such, to effectively and efficiently provide services across the municipality, an orderly and properly maintained fleet management system including planned replacement schedules of vehicles and equipment is necessary. It’s important to ensure the availability of dependable vehicles and equipment as frequent breakdowns can result in staff downtime and other negative impacts to service delivery.
The Town is committed to continually monitoring and reviewing fleet performance and re-evaluating the lifecycle of each unit for validating scheduled vehicle/equipment replacements. This validation ensures that replacements are warranted based on maintenance costs, overall condition and frequency of use.
