Pursuant to the Town’s Animal Care and Control By-law, all dog owners are required to purchase an annual license prior to January 1 of each year or within 30 days of acquiring a new dog. New licenses for the next year are available commencing in November and December of the current year. Licenses purchased in January or February attract an additional late fee of $15.00, with additional late fees accruing as the year progresses.
**New** Voluntary cat licenses may be purchased for $20.
Dog licenses (or voluntary cat licenses) can be purchased at the Town Hall (4800 South Service Road, Beamsville)
Alternatively, you may visit the Welland and District SPCA website at https://wellandspca.docupet.com and purchase your pet license(s) using their on-line service through Docupet. The tag, rewards card and Docupet program information will be mailed from Docupet within 5-10 business days.
Enforcement of the Animal Care and Control By-law has been contracted to the Welland and District Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), whose officers patrol the Town on a regular basis and are empowered to issue fines for offences under the Animal Care and Control By-law.
